What is a digital business card?
A digital business card is your contact details at a web address, instead of printed on card. What you hand over is the address; what it shows, you edit.
How it reaches the other phone
Three ways, and they all end in the same place. NFC: they hold their phone near a card, a sticker or a key fob and the page opens. QR: they point the normal camera at it. A link: you send it by message, put it in an email signature or in a social bio. Nobody installs anything, on either side.
What it does that paper cannot
- It changes. A new number, a new role, a new company: you edit once and every card already handed out is right again.
- It saves itself. One button writes your name, phone, email and company into the phone book.
- It counts. You can see whether anyone actually opened it, and from where.
- It collects. A short form on your own card gets you their details, not just them getting yours.
What it costs
Two things, and they are separate. The service is the address and what it shows: a plan, paid once a year or once for life. The object is optional: a printed card with NFC, a sticker or a key fob. You can have a digital card with no object at all — a QR printed on what you already print works.
When it is not worth it
If you hand over two cards a year, paper is fine. This pays off when your details change, when you hand over many, or when you want to know what happened afterwards.
What to check before choosing one
- Does the contact save with no signal? (A QR that carries the contact does; a link does not.)
- Whose address is it, and can you take it with you?
- What happens when you stop paying: does it disappear, or keep showing your name?
- Does it need an app — on your side or theirs?

Questions people ask before buying.
Do I need an app?
No, and neither does the person you hand it to. It opens as a web page with the phone camera or with a tap.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Every phone since about 2018 reads NFC and QR with what it already has.
Is a digital card the same as a link-in-bio page?
No. A link page sends people somewhere else; a contact card ends with your details saved in their phone.
